Win Tools M12-UNIV Aluminum Oil Pan Drain Plug Thread Repair Kit

ONE kit for all 12 millimeter size drain plugs! Make your threads stronger by using steel instead of aluminum. This drain plug thread repair kit is designed to repair aluminum oil pans that use any M12 drain plugs, including M12x1.25, M12x1.5 or M12x1.75. The size is M12x1.75 and comes with 5 steel inserts and 5 M12x1.75 drain plugs. This allows repair of any oil pan which use 12 Millimeter drain plugs, regardless of the thread pitch being 1.25, 1.5 or 1.75. We include five new drain plugs so if working on an M12x1.25 or M12x1.5, the supplied drain plug can be used.

Using the included drill bit, drill out the oil drain plug hole so it is smooth and will accept new threads. Use the counter bore to make a slight recess for the lip to be positioned in. Tap the threads using the tap and tap guide. This tap guide will help ensure the drain plug will sit straight and seal properly. Use the installation driver (add several drops of motor oil on driver) to install the new solid bushing type insert. The installation driver will only thread in several threads at first before it begins to feel tight. Continue installing the insert until it is flush in the pan. The installation driver will finish forming the bottom threads and expand the insert locking it into place. This expansion at the bottom of the insert is what holds it and prevents it from backing out when the drain plug is removed for oil changes. After running some oil through the engine to flush out any debris that may be inside the pan from the drilling and tapping, install the new M12x1.75 drain plug that has been provided.
