Question: I need to use the 40mm long insert on an outboard motor for head bolts in a blind hole. The threads are not exactly flush. The threads start about 1/4" (6mm) down from the surface. Will this kit work for my application?

Answer: With the 40mm length insert, there needs to be 6mm for clearance at the bottom, to allow the driver to go through and cold roll the bottom threads.  If a countersink 1/4" or 6mm is also needed, the total hole depth must be at least 52mm. The standard counterbore in the kit will only recess the insert flush to the surface but you can skip the counterbore and use a separate 1/2" drill not included to create the counterbore 1/4" deep. Mark the drill bit so you know how far to go when creating this counter sink area. Before beginning please check the total depth of the hole to make sure there's 52mm.
