Description
Specialty oil pressure switch/sending unit thread repair kit for some VW Motors 1/8 - 27 BSBP, uses PN 01271 carbon steel inserts which are .360" long. Installs a solid thread repair insert in the engine to accept the factory NPT National Pipe Taper oil sending unit. Basic instructions below.
Warning -
Cutting tools may shatter if broken. The wearing of safety glasses is required in the vicinity of their use.
1. Drill out old threads, keeping drill square to the surface of the hole.
2. Counterbore the hole to the full depth permitted by the tool.
3. Tap new threads into the full depth of the drilled hole, while holding tap square to the surface.
THOROUGHLY CLEAN AND DRY THE HOLE.
4. OIL THE THREADS of the insert driver tool.
Screw an insert onto the driver. Apply a small amount of loc-tite (271 or 277) (If High temperature use 266) on the outside threads of the insert. Then screw the insert into the prepared hole until the top of the threaded section of the driver tool is level with the top of insert.
